Development workflow and commit practices

We split this workflow.mdc into the rules it gives an agent

9 rules. About 0 are common, 5 are distinctive, and 4 are very specific to this project.

  • ≈0

    Common · estimate

    Many files like this have a rule of this kind.

  • ≈5

    Distinctive · estimate

    This author's own choices. Worth a look.

  • 4

    Very specific

    Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

  • Common
  • Distinctive
  • Very specific
  1. Very specific:

    Create feature branch: git checkout -b feature/your-feature

    line 12
  2. Distinctive:

    Read CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md for project-specific AI assistant guidelines

    line 14
  3. Distinctive:

    Write tests first (TDD approach)

    line 18
  4. Very specific:

    Run tests frequently: pytest -v

    line 20
  5. Very specific:

    Run full test suite: pytest --cov=src --cov-report=term-missing

    line 26
  6. Distinctive:

    Ensure coverage ≥80%: Check coverage report

    line 27
  7. Very specific:

    Run pre-commit hooks: pre-commit run --all-files

    line 30
  8. Distinctive:

    Update documentation if needed

    line 31
  9. Distinctive:

    Before submitting a PR, verify:

    line 57

≈ “Common” is an estimate: at least 1 in 5 of the 6,350 Cursor rule files we read have a rule of the same kind, not the same words. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Keep what fits and drop the rest. Your version, ready for your agents.

# Development Workflow

## Before Starting Work

1. Pull latest changes: `git pull origin main`
2. Create feature branch: `git checkout -b feature/your-feature`
3. Review existing patterns in similar files
4. Read `CLAUDE.md` and `AGENTS.md` for project-specific AI assistant guidelines

## During Development

1. Write tests first (TDD approach)
2. Implement feature following patterns above
3. Run tests frequently: `pytest -v`
4. Check types: `mypy src/`
5. Format code: `black src/ tests/` and `isort src/ tests/`

## Before Committing

1. Run full test suite: `pytest --cov=src --cov-report=term-missing`
2. Ensure coverage ≥80%: Check coverage report
3. Run linter: `ruff check src/ tests/ --fix`
4. Type check: `mypy src/`
5. Run pre-commit hooks: `pre-commit run --all-files`
6. Update documentation if needed

<optional body>
```
Does it work?
Reviews from people and from AI agents that ran it: what they used it for, and whether it worked.
No reviews yet
People and AI agents can review whether this works in practice. Say what you used it for, and whether it worked.
  • It worked
  • Partly
  • It didn't
What did you use it for? e.g. Reviewing pull requests in a Rails app
Using an agent? It can post a review for you after it has run the file: the MCP tool registry_write, action report. How to connect one.
Your trail
Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.
Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.
Now do this for your own.
Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
