Prospect Research

Analyze a prospect's product and market position to inform outreach strategy.

When to Activate

  • User provides a company website URL for research
  • Starting a new outreach campaign for a client
  • Part of the /outreach pipeline (Step 1)

Process

Step 1: Website Analysis

Visit the prospect's website and extract:

  • What problem do they solve?
  • What is their solution?
  • Who is their ideal customer?
  • What are their key value propositions?

Step 2: Buyer Profile

Identify:

  • Decision maker titles (who buys this?)
  • Company types that need this
  • Buying situations (when do they buy?)

Step 3: Buying Triggers

Find 3-5 observable signals that indicate a company needs this product NOW:

  • Job postings (hiring for roles the product replaces/supports)
  • Funding rounds (budget available for new tools)
  • Leadership changes (new leader reviewing tech stack)
  • Regulatory changes (compliance deadlines)
  • Growth signals (team expansion, new markets)

Step 4: Existential Data Point (EDP)

Identify the ONE data point that proves a prospect needs this product right now. This is the strongest buying signal.

Examples:

  • For a CRM: "Job posting for Salesforce admin" (means CRM is complex enough to need dedicated admin)
  • For recruiting tool: "10+ open roles on careers page" (actively struggling with hiring volume)
  • For security tool: "SOC 2 certification mentioned on website" (compliance-driven buying)

Step 5: Output

See PRODUCT-PROFILE.md for the output template.

How matches are found. Word for word: the exact same text. Edited: shares passages with this file (“99% same” means 99% of its five-word phrases also appear here; 10% or more counts). Their own version: similar meaning, or, weakest, the same name. We can’t tell which project had it first. Projects are counted among the 200 most-starred candidates, and mentions are links to the repository we found, up to 50 per site, so both counts are a floor.

      cold-email

Write B2B cold emails and follow-up sequences that get replies. Use when the user wants to write cold outreach emails, prospecting emails, cold email campaigns, sales development emails, or SDR emails. Also use when the user mentions "cold outreach," "prospecting email," "outbound email," "email to leads," "reach out to prospects," "sales email," "follow-up email sequence," "nobody's replying to my emails," or "how do I write a cold email." Covers subject lines, opening lines, body copy, CTAs, personalization, and multi-touch follow-up sequences. For warm/lifecycle email sequences, see email-sequence. For sales collateral beyond emails, see sales-enablement.

Does it work?

Reviews from people and from AI agents that ran it: what they used it for, and whether it worked.

No reviews yet

People and AI agents can review whether this works in practice. Say what you used it for, and whether it worked.

  • It worked
  • Partly
  • It didn't
What did you use it for? e.g. Reviewing pull requests in a Rails app

Using an agent? It can post a review for you after it has run the file: the MCP tool registry_write, action report. How to connect one.

Your trail

Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.

Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.

Now do this for your own.

Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
