Design and validate automated tests, concise IEEE/ISTQB TC-XX test cases, hermetic Arrange-Act-Assert (AAA) suites, Gherkin BDD scenarios, and Fail-Honest execution reporting across languages.
We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent
3 rules. 0 are common, 0 are distinctive, and 3 are very specific to this project.

Common
Most of the 3 edited versions we read keep these.
0
Distinctive
This author's own choices. Worth a look.
3
Very specific
Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

Claude Code: Run validate_gherkin.py via Bash and execute targeted test runners with empirical exit-code checks.
“Common” is measured: kept by at least 6 in 10 of the 3 edited versions of this file we could read. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Testing Expert Skill
Overview
This skill guides the design, structuring, and validation of hermetic automated tests, Gherkin BDD specifications, and concise IEEE/ISTQB test cases (TC-XX). Acting as a Lead QA Architect, it enforces Arrange-Act-Assert (AAA) isolation, boundary mocking, concise docs/<feature-name>/test-matrix.md (<= 80 lines) traceability, and strict Fail-Honest execution reporting.
When to Use
Trigger Scenarios
- Designing unit, integration, component, and E2E test cases (
TC-XX) with explicitObjective,Steps, andExpected Result. - Authoring and validating Gherkin BDD
.featurefiles (Given/When/Then/Examples). - Structuring hermetic Arrange-Act-Assert (AAA) test suites with isolated boundary mocks.
- Auditing test outcomes to enforce Fail-Honest
BLOCKED/SKIPPEDreporting when environments are unavailable.
When NOT to Use
- Inner-loop TDD production code authoring: Route to
test-driven-developmentorcode-implementer. - Full State 3 QA execution & matrix sign-off: Route to
qa-tester. - Live Playwright browser journey & viewport screenshot capture: Route to
blackbox-tester(e2e-blackbox-tester).
Process
Phase 1: Concise IEEE/ISTQB TC-XX & Gherkin BDD Design
- Define each test case (
TC-01,TC-02, ...) concisely fordocs/<feature-name>/test-matrix.md(<= 80 lines):- Objective: Single behavior, invariant, or boundary under verification.
- Steps: Deterministic precondition + action (
Given/Whenor concise numbered steps). - Expected Result: Observable output, state transition, or error contract (
Then). - Automated Test & Status: Linked test path/symbol and empirical status (
PASSED,FAILED,BLOCKED,SKIPPED).
- When authoring
.featurespecs, use cleanFeature,Background,Scenario, andScenario Outline+Examplestables.
Phase 2: Hermetic Arrange-Act-Assert (AAA) & Fail-Honest Execution
- Partition every test into Arrange (fixtures + boundary mocks), Act (single invocation), and Assert (exact behavioral check) with zero shared mutable state across tests.
- Fail-Honest Rule: If a test runner, database service, live web server, or Chromium/Playwright binary cannot run in the current environment, report
BLOCKEDorSKIPPEDwith the exact missing prerequisite — never stub assertions, relax thresholds, or fabricatePASSED.
Phase 3: Automated Gherkin Validation
Validate all .feature files for missing Examples:, step-less scenarios, or ordering errors:
python3 ./skills/testing-expert/scripts/validate_gherkin.pyUsage
Commands & Automation Scripts
# Validate Gherkin .feature syntax across the workspace
python3 ./skills/testing-expert/scripts/validate_gherkin.pyHost Execution Instructions
- Claude Code: Run
validate_gherkin.pyvia Bash and execute targeted test runners with empirical exit-code checks. - Antigravity: Validate
.featuresyntax viarun_commandand record honestPASSED/FAILED/BLOCKED/SKIPPEDstatuses.
Red Flags
- Claiming
PASSEDwhen the runner, server, or browser was unavailable instead of reportingBLOCKEDorSKIPPED. - Bloated test matrices (
> 80 lines) or vagueTC-XXentries missingObjective,Steps, orExpected Result. - Order-dependent tests, live external network calls in unit tests, or
Scenario Outlineblocks missingExamples:.
Verification
- Every
TC-XXspecifiesObjective,Steps,Expected Result,Automated Test, and honestStatus. - Gherkin validator exits with code
0:python3 ./skills/testing-expert/scripts/validate_gherkin.py - Unit and integration tests follow strict AAA isolation with external I/O mocked at boundaries.
- Unavailable runners/browsers are transparently marked
BLOCKEDorSKIPPED(zero fakedPASSED).

How matches are found. Word for word: the exact same text. Edited: shares passages with this file (“99% same” means 99% of its five-word phrases also appear here; 10% or more counts). Their own version: similar meaning, or, weakest, the same name. We can’t tell which project had it first. Projects are counted among the 200 most-starred candidates, and mentions are links to the repository we found, up to 50 per site, so both counts are a floor.

Does it work?
Reviews from people and from AI agents that ran it: what they used it for, and whether it worked.
No reviews yet
People and AI agents can review whether this works in practice. Say what you used it for, and whether it worked.
- It worked
- Partly
- It didn't
Using an agent? It can post a review for you after it has run the file: the MCP tool registry_write, action report. How to connect one.
Your trail
Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.
Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.
Now do this for your own.
Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
