Edit a video where every beat is one big 3D hero object that acts out the spoken noun, a staircase for "steps", a clock for "five minutes", a phone arc for "videos", landing exactly on the word, with a real Claude Code window for any demo and the head popping out of the face card. For founder takes, opinion pieces, thought leadership, a company update. Use when someone says "3D motion reel", "hero object edit", "make my video feel premium", "bigger animations", "motion that acts out what I say" or "like the Claude edited this video video".

We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent

4 rules. About 0 are common, 3 are distinctive, and 1 is very specific to this project.

  • ≈0

    Common · estimate

Many files like this have a rule of this kind.

  • ≈3

    Distinctive · estimate

This author's own choices. Worth a look.

  • 1

    Very specific

Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

  • Common
  • Distinctive
  • Very specific
  1. Very specific:

Before you start: run video-intake and opening-hook.

    line 12
  2. Distinctive:

The hook IS the animation: No flat title card if the first hero can carry the hook.

    line 28
  3. Distinctive:

Bad items go grey and lift out: No strike lines or scribbles.

    line 30
  4. Distinctive:

Pop-out over 1.1 scale feels cramped: Leave breathing room.

    line 69

≈ “Common” is an estimate: at least 1 in 5 of the 308,232 skill files we read have a rule of the same kind, not the same words. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Keep what fits and drop the rest. Your version, ready for your agents.

Big idea video

Use it for: founder takes, opinion pieces, thought leadership, a company update.

One big 3D object per beat, acting out the noun you say. This is the system behind my "Claude edited this video" video, which went to my feed and did well.

Before you start: run video-intake and opening-hook. This builds on explainer-video's look (white, one accent, pill captions).

Every size. The same build makes 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 and 16:9. Size objects from PANEL, then run every-format.

Step 1: Ask for three things, then wait

  1. The cut transcript with word timings.
  2. The noun of each beat. The one word the beat is about.
  3. Real examples to show. Count every screen you will fill (phones, tiles, covers) and collect that many different real ones. Never the same example twice.

The grammar

  • One hero per beat that acts out its noun. "Steps" = a 3D staircase a ball climbs. "Five minutes against an hour" = two clock dials, the hour shatters. "Edit" = a timeline with a playhead that cuts. Not a denser list.
  • It fills the panel: x 74-1006, y 170-880 on split beats. Fill the long side: a wide hero touches both side edges, a round or tall one touches top and bottom. A third of the panel looks basic.
  • The payoff lands on its word, at the moment the word starts (its s time in words.js). Stretch the beat's clock so the last step hits the word, not the cut.
  • Carry the object across the cut. The engine clears the stage at each cut, so the new beat draws the old hero itself for its first 0.3s, sliding sideways and fading out while the new hero rises. Swinging it straight back on the same line as the new one stacks two heroes and reads as a muddle.
  • The hook IS the animation. No flat title card if the first hero can carry the hook.
  • Demos show a Claude Code window with the real command. Best: a screen recording of the real run. Next best: a terminal built in HTML that matches the real one, typing the real command. Never a command the build did not run.
  • Bad items go grey and lift out. No strike lines or scribbles.

The moves that worked

MoveWhat it does
SlamEnters from deep in 3D, settles with no overshoot
CrashFalls away into depth with gravity, clear of the caption
Phone arcThree phones in a 3D arc, one swipe per word, a different real video on each
Count-up cardA 128px number counts up on its word, label under it
Drop zoneA file falls in with gravity, a waveform rises, bad parts lift out grey
Head pop-outOn split beats the head breaks out of the top of the face card (cut-out of the same frame, scale 1.1 at most). The cut-out frames come from the cut-out step in behind-my-head
Zoom-throughScale and blur through the cut, only between two graphic beats. Face cuts stay hard

Step 2: Beat sheet, then wait

Per beat: time, layout, spoken words, the noun, the hero and the word it lands on. Show it. Build stills of every beat before any render (node render.mjs --stills 3.2,6.5,8.9, one time per landing word), and get a yes.

Step 3: Build brief (paste into Claude Code)

Edit video.js only. One hero object per beat from my beat sheet. Build each in 3D with CSS perspective (1400px) and transforms worked out from time alone.
Entrances: slam from translateZ(-900px) with easeOut() (spring() overshoots about 3%, keep it for small pops). Exits: crash into depth with gravity.
Every hero fills x 74-1006, y 170-880 on split beats and lands on the word I named. Stretch the beat's own clock so the last change hits that word.
At each cut, carry the hero into the next beat and swing it away while the next hero rises. Never an empty frame.
Demos: use my screen recording if I give one. Otherwise build a terminal that matches Claude Code (dark window, monospace, the real command I give you typing at 14 characters a second).
Use only my real assets. Never show the same example twice.
Check stills at the landing word of every beat. Fix anything small, cropped or over the caption.

Step 4: Render and check

Render, then run video-check. Compare it side by side with your best previous edit before posting.

What I learned the hard way

  • Level up the motion inside an approved version. Swapping concepts after approval made it worse every time.
  • A card that stands for a video must be a real 9:16 video frame, never a wide 16:9 still cropped to fit.
  • Your own work on screen = your newest posts, in your current style.
  • Pop-out over 1.1 scale feels cramped. Leave breathing room.

People and AI agents can review whether this works in practice. Say what you used it for, and whether it worked.

  • It worked
  • Partly
  • It didn't
What did you use it for? e.g. Reviewing pull requests in a Rails app

Using an agent? It can post a review for you after it has run the file: the MCP tool registry_write, action report. How to connect one.
