Use the correct Alibaba Cloud CLI (aliyun) profile and region when running Alibaba Cloud commands based on the target environment.

We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent

9 rules. About 0 are common, 4 are distinctive, and 5 are very specific to this project.

  • ≈0

    Common · estimate

Many files like this have a rule of this kind.

  • ≈4

    Distinctive · estimate

This author's own choices. Worth a look.

  • 5

    Very specific

Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

  • Common
  • Distinctive
  • Very specific
  1. Very specific:

When running aliyun commands, always pass the --profile flag based on the target environment, and specify the region explicitly.

    line 8
  2. Distinctive:

Update the profile map below with your Alibaba Cloud CLI profile names:

  3. Distinctive:

If not already authenticated, inform the user that setup is required and ask them to complete the following steps manually.

    line 21
  4. Very specific:

Always specify --profile explicitly — never rely on the default aliyun profile, as it may point to the wrong account.

    line 79
  5. Very specific:

Always specify --region explicitly — never rely on a default region.

    line 80
  6. Distinctive:

If the target environment is unclear, ask the user before running the command.

    line 81
  7. Distinctive:

NEVER run any command in the "Never run" table above without explicit user instruction — a human must execute these, especially against …

    line 82
  8. Very specific:

NEVER read or output AccessKey ID/Secret values stored in aliyun CLI profiles or any credential value.

    line 83
  9. Very specific:

If unsure which account a profile belongs to, run aliyun sts GetCallerIdentity --profile <profile> to verify before proceeding.

    line 84

≈ “Common” is an estimate: at least 1 in 5 of the 308,232 skill files we read have a rule of the same kind, not the same words. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Keep what fits and drop the rest. Your version, ready for your agents.

Alibaba Cloud CLI Skill

When running aliyun commands, always pass the --profile flag based on the target environment, and specify the region explicitly.

Configuration

Update the profile map below with your Alibaba Cloud CLI profile names:

EnvironmentProfileDefault Region
Production<your-prod-profile><your-prod-region> (e.g. cn-hangzhou)
Staging / Non-Prod<your-nonprod-profile><your-nonprod-region> (e.g. ap-southeast-1)

Prerequisites (one-time setup by user)

If not already authenticated, inform the user that setup is required and ask them to complete the following steps manually. Do not perform these steps yourself.

brew install aliyun-cli
aliyun configure --profile <your-profile-name>
aliyun configure list

Command Format

aliyun <product> <action> --profile <profile> --region <region> [options]

Examples

aliyun ecs DescribeInstances --profile <your-prod-profile> --region <your-prod-region>

# Staging / Non-Prod
aliyun ecs DescribeInstances --profile <your-nonprod-profile> --region <your-nonprod-region>

Available Commands

Read-only (safe, no confirmation needed)

Command patternDescription
aliyun ecs DescribeInstancesList ECS instances
aliyun ecs DescribeInstanceAttributeDescribe an ECS instance

aliyun ecs CreateInstanceCreate a new ECS instance
aliyun ecs ModifyInstanceAttributeModify an ECS instance
aliyun rds CreateDBInstanceCreate a new RDS instance
aliyun cs CreateClusterCreate a new Kubernetes (ACK) cluster

Command patternReason
aliyun ecs DeleteInstanceIrreversible resource deletion
aliyun rds DeleteDBInstanceIrreversibly destroys a database
aliyun cs DeleteClusterIrreversibly deletes a Kubernetes cluster
aliyun ecs StopInstance / RebootInstanceDisrupts running workloads

Does it work?

Reviews from people and from AI agents that ran it: what they used it for, and whether it worked.

No reviews yet

People and AI agents can review whether this works in practice. Say what you used it for, and whether it worked.

  • It worked
  • Partly
  • It didn't
What did you use it for? e.g. Reviewing pull requests in a Rails app

Using an agent? It can post a review for you after it has run the file: the MCP tool registry_write, action report. How to connect one.

Your trail

Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.

Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.

Now do this for your own.

Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
