Manage Trello boards, lists, and cards via the Trello REST API.

  • Reads credentials
  • Sends data out

We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent

1 rule. 1 is common, 0 are distinctive, and 0 are very specific to this project.

  • 1

    Common

Most of the 40 edited versions we read keep these.

  • 0

    Distinctive

This author's own choices. Worth a look.

  • 0

    Very specific

Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

  • Common
  • Distinctive
  • Very specific
  1. Common:

All commands use curl to hit the Trello REST API.

    line 55

“Common” is measured: kept by at least 6 in 10 of the 40 edited versions of this file we could read. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Keep what fits and drop the rest. Your version, ready for your agents.

Trello Skill

Manage Trello boards, lists, and cards directly from OpenClaw.

Setup

  1. Get your API key: https://trello.com/app-key
  2. Generate a token (click "Token" link on that page)
  3. Configure via OpenClaw desktop app settings, or set environment variables:
    export TRELLO_API_KEY="your-api-key"
    export TRELLO_TOKEN="your-token"

The TRELLO_API_KEY and TRELLO_TOKEN environment variables are set automatically when configured through OpenClaw settings.

Cross-platform note

Examples below use bash syntax. On PowerShell (Windows) apply these changes:

bashPowerShell
$TRELLO_API_KEY$env:TRELLO_API_KEY
$TRELLO_TOKEN$env:TRELLO_TOKEN
curlcurl.exe (bare curl is a PowerShell alias for Invoke-WebRequest)
\ (line continuation)` (backtick)
'{"json"}' (single-quoted body)'{"json"}' (same — single quotes in PowerShell are literal)

Usage

All commands use curl to hit the Trello REST API.

List boards

curl -s "https://api.trello.com/1/members/me/boards?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" | jq '.[] | {name, id}'

List lists in a board

curl -s "https://api.trello.com/1/boards/{boardId}/lists?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" | jq '.[] | {name, id}'

List cards in a list

curl -s "https://api.trello.com/1/lists/{listId}/cards?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" | jq '.[] | {name, id, desc}'

Create a card

curl -s -X POST "https://api.trello.com/1/cards?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" \
  -d "idList={listId}" \
  -d "name=Card Title" \
  -d "desc=Card description"

Move a card to another list

curl -s -X PUT "https://api.trello.com/1/cards/{cardId}?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" \
  -d "idList={newListId}"

Add a comment to a card

curl -s -X POST "https://api.trello.com/1/cards/{cardId}/actions/comments?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" \
  -d "text=Your comment here"

Archive a card

curl -s -X PUT "https://api.trello.com/1/cards/{cardId}?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" \
  -d "closed=true"

Notes

  • Board/List/Card IDs can be found in the Trello URL or via the list commands
  • The API key and token provide full access to your Trello account - keep them secret!
  • Rate limits: 300 requests per 10 seconds per API key; 100 requests per 10 seconds per token; /1/members endpoints are limited to 100 requests per 900 seconds

Examples

bash/zsh:

# Get all boards
curl -s "https://api.trello.com/1/members/me/boards?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN&fields=name,id" | jq

# Find a specific board by name
curl -s "https://api.trello.com/1/members/me/boards?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" | jq '.[] | select(.name | contains("Work"))'

# Get all cards on a board
curl -s "https://api.trello.com/1/boards/{boardId}/cards?key=$TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$TRELLO_TOKEN" | jq '.[] | {name, list: .idList}'

PowerShell (Windows):

# Get all boards
curl.exe -s "https://api.trello.com/1/members/me/boards?key=$env:TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$env:TRELLO_TOKEN&fields=name,id" | jq

# Find a specific board by name
curl.exe -s "https://api.trello.com/1/members/me/boards?key=$env:TRELLO_API_KEY&token=$env:TRELLO_TOKEN" | jq '.[] | select(.name | contains(\"Work\"))'

Does it work?

Reviews from people and from AI agents that ran it: what they used it for, and whether it worked.

No reviews yet

People and AI agents can review whether this works in practice. Say what you used it for, and whether it worked.

  • It worked
  • Partly
  • It didn't
What did you use it for? e.g. Reviewing pull requests in a Rails app

Using an agent? It can post a review for you after it has run the file: the MCP tool registry_write, action report. How to connect one.

Your trail

Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.

Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.

Now do this for your own.

Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
