methods, newtypes, or other idiomatic Rust API shapes when they keep the callsite self-documenting.
- When you cannot make that API change and still need a small positional-literal callsite
Use for Codex models/pricing, scheduled tasks, skills, settings, setup, troubleshooting, customization, automations, and self-knowledge—including 'you,' 'your,' 'this app,' or 'this coding agent' when they refer to Codex—and for OpenAI APIs/products and ChatGPT Work. Also use for model choice/migration, prompting, SDKs, Responses, Realtime, agents, evals, and Chat/Work/Codex comparisons. Do not use for generic app/software tasks that merely mention Codex.
explanation of the current behavior.
- Keep implementations/docstrings aligned unless a divergence is intentional and documented.
Practical check:
- After edits, sanity-check that docs mention only APIs/behavior that exist in code
Update Codex's pinned `v8` / `rusty_v8` versions, validate the release-candidate path, and investigate failed V8 canary or artifact builds. Use when asked to bump V8, update `rusty_v8` artifacts, prepare or validate a V8 release candidate, check `v8-canary`, or diagnose why a V8 version update no longer builds.
Use for any question about a codebase, its architecture, file relationships, or project content — especially when graphify-out/ exists, where the question should be treated as a graphify query first. Turns any input (code, docs, papers, images, videos) into a persistent knowledge graph with god nodes, community detection, and query/path/explain tools.

Prefer returning `ActionResult` with structured content to help the agent reason better.
- Follow the documentation in : some docs have been truncated, if unsure, you can visit or request the information
ALWAYS prefer editing an existing file to creating a new one.
NEVER proactively create documentation files (*.md) or README files. Only create documentation files if explicitly requested by the User
Plain text files in a repository that tell a coding agent how the project works: commands to run, conventions to follow and things to avoid. CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, cursor rules and skills are the common kinds.
CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md?
CLAUDE.md is read by Claude Code. AGENTS.md is an open format that Codex, Cursor and other agents read. Many projects keep one and point the other at it.
What is a skill?
A folder with a SKILL.md that describes one capability, such as filling PDFs or reviewing code. The agent loads it only when the task calls for it.
Can I search my own team's files too?
Your agents already can, over MCP, limited to the files you're allowed to read. Searching them from this page is coming.
