--- description: Use when editing TypeScript under src/ or test/ in searchconsole-mcp (imports, Zod, stdio, tool handlers). globs: - src/**/*.ts - test/**/*.ts alwaysApply: false --- # Code style ## Imports - ESM only. Relative imports use **`.js` suffix** (`from '../errors.js'`). - Named exports preferred. ## Validation - Schemas only in **`src/tools/schemas.ts`**. Handlers use **`safeTool`** + `safeParse`. - Update **`test/schemas.test.ts`** (or related) when bounds change. ## MCP stdio - **`installStdioGuard()`** at startup. No `console.log` on stdout path. - Operator logs: **`console.error`** with `[searchconsole-mcp]` prefix. - Tool text: **`sanitizeToolError`**; success via **`formatToolResult`** (`GSC_OUTPUT_FORMAT`). ## Tests - **`node:test`** + **`node:assert/strict`**. Mock GSC via **`setGscClientForTests`**. ## Red flags | Stop | Why | |------|-----| | `./foo` without `.js` | ESM break | | Zod inline in `gsc*.ts` | Drift from MCP args | | `console.log` in server/tools | Breaks JSON-RPC | | Live GSC in `npm test` | CI flake |
