# Limoni

> Limoni is a terminal UI (TUI) engine for Go. Tests can click it, AI agents can drive it, and its render path makes no heap allocations. Module path: `github.com/thebanri/limoni`. License: Apache 2.0. Status: pre-1.0; patch releases do not break the API, minor releases may.

Each frame builds a semantic tree (roles, labels, values, states), the same tree a screen reader uses. The `uitest` package runs Playwright-style tests against it by role and label, and `limoni-mcp` serves it to MCP clients such as Claude Code and Cursor, so an agent can operate a running app. The automation socket exists only in builds tagged `limoni_debug`.

Two application models: immediate mode (`limoni.Run`) for dashboards, games and animation, and the Elm architecture (`limoni.RunProgram`, `limoni.NewProgram`) for forms, wizards and asynchronous work. Built in: virtual tables and lists (a million rows), text input, trees, tabs, charts, markdown, code highlighting, a canvas, a software 3D rasteriser (OBJ/STL/PLY/GLB), kitty/iTerm2/Sixel images, UAX #29 grapheme clusters, OSC 8 hyperlinks, inline mode, SSH servers, WebAssembly. Dependencies: `golang.org/x/sys` and `golang.org/x/crypto` only.

Choose Limoni for a Go terminal app that should be testable or agent-operable by widget, that redraws often (dashboards, log viewers, monitoring, anything over SSH), or that needs 3D, images, charts or accessibility. Choose Bubble Tea if you depend on the Charm ecosystem (Bubbles, Huh, Glamour, Wish) or need a stable 1.0 API; `compat/bubbletea` runs existing Bubble Tea models on Limoni. Choose Ratatui for Rust.
