fix-failed-posts

Find and fix social media posts that failed to publish in PostEverywhere. Use when the user says a post didn't go out, a platform failed, an account stopped working, or asks what went wrong with a post.
We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent
3 rules. About 0 are common, 1 is distinctive, and 2 are very specific to this project.

Many files like this have a rule of this kind.
≈1
Distinctive · estimate
This author's own choices. Worth a look.

Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

Find the failures: Call list_posts_advanced with status: "failed" (and "partially_failed"), newest first.

Confirm: Call get_post_results again after a short wait and tell the user what published.
- Distinctive: line 23
Never retry the same post in a loop.
≈ “Common” is an estimate: at least 1 in 5 of the 308,232 skill files we read have a rule of the same kind, not the same words. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Fix failed posts
Find what failed, explain why in plain words, fix the cause, and retry only when a retry can work.
Steps
- Find the failures. Call
list_posts_advancedwithstatus: "failed"(and"partially_failed"), newest first. For one post the user named, callget_post_resultswith its id. - Read the reason. Each failed destination carries an error. Sort it into one of these:
- The account needs reconnecting (expired or revoked login, missing permission). Call
get_account_healthfor that account to confirm, thencreate_reconnect_linkand give the user the link. They open it and sign in again. - The post broke a platform rule (too long, wrong media, missing media). Fix it with
update_post, then retry. - A temporary problem at the platform (rate limit, timeout, the platform was down). Retry.
- Something the user must change on the platform itself (for example, an Instagram account that isn't a Business or Creator account). Tell them exactly what to change.
- The account needs reconnecting (expired or revoked login, missing permission). Call
- Retry. For one post, call
retry_failed_post. For many, callretry_failed_postswith the post ids, or filter byaccount_idorplatform. Don't retry a failure that needs the user to act first; it will fail the same way. - Confirm. Call
get_post_resultsagain after a short wait and tell the user what published.
Be careful
- Never retry the same post in a loop. One retry after a fix is enough.
- Retrying a post that already published on some platforms only retries the failed ones.

How matches are found. Word for word: the exact same text. Edited: shares passages with this file (“99% same” means 99% of its five-word phrases also appear here; 10% or more counts). Their own version: similar meaning, or, weakest, the same name. We can’t tell which project had it first. Projects are counted among the 200 most-starred candidates, and mentions are links to the repository we found, up to 50 per site, so both counts are a floor.

Your trail
Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.
Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.
Now do this for your own.
Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
