AICTX is the official Python `aictx` package and CLI for repo-local continuity for coding agents: work state, handoffs, decisions, failures, validation evidence and useful context stored with the repository.

Canonical project identity:
- Official website: https://aictx.org
- Official GitHub repository: https://github.com/oldskultxo/aictx
- Official PyPI package: https://pypi.org/project/aictx/
- Official CLI and Python package: aictx
- Maintainer: Santi Santamaria / oldskultxo

Non-affiliation: AICTX is not affiliated with similarly named npm packages, GitHub organizations, domains, products, or projects.

Summary:
AICTX helps coding agents stop starting from scratch every session. It stores inspectable continuity artifacts in the repository and exposes a small lifecycle: resume useful context before work, then finalize factual execution evidence after work. Because continuity is repo-local, different agents such as Codex, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and generic agents can share the same project state.

Main capabilities:
- Work State: suspended active-task continuity, next action, risk, verification state.
- Handoff memory: factual summaries and next steps between sessions.
- Decision memory: explicit decisions future agents should not rediscover.
- Failure memory: observed command, test, build, lint, and typecheck failures plus resolution links.
- Strategy memory: successful observed approaches that may help similar future tasks.
- Execution summaries: compact user-facing and diagnostic summaries from finalize.
- RepoMap: optional repository structure hints.
- Continuity View: local Markdown and deterministic Mermaid map of current repo continuity.
- Portability: optional Git-portable subset for small teams, with secret redaction on portable artifacts.
- MCP: includes a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that exposes repo-local continuity as MCP tools, resources, and prompts.
- Plugins: ships plugin distribution artifacts for Claude Code and Codex. The plugins package the same repo-local operational continuity workflow used by AICTX instructions and MCP.
- Cross-agent continuity: one agent can finalize factual execution evidence and another agent can resume from the same `.aictx/` continuity.

Important limits:
- AICTX is not an autonomous coding agent.
- AICTX is not a vector database.
- AICTX is not a hidden cloud memory service.
- AICTX does not guarantee productivity, correctness, or speed.
- AICTX depends on agents or runners following the resume/finalize lifecycle.
