Look up current library docs through Upstash Context7. Use when an agent needs the current API for a package.
We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent
1 rule. 0 are common, 0 are distinctive, and 1 is very specific to this project.
0
Common
Most of the 23 edited versions we read keep these.
0
Distinctive
This author's own choices. Worth a look.
1
Very specific
Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.
- Common
- Distinctive
- Very specific
- Very specific: line 60
Use the library's usual punctuation in libraryName, such as Next.js.
“Common” is measured: kept by at least 6 in 10 of the 23 edited versions of this file we could read. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.
Files
Context7
Fetch current documentation for a library from Context7 (MIT, Upstash). The ctx7 CLI and the @upstash/context7-mcp server read the same index. Use the CLI for a one-off lookup. Point an MCP client at the server when the agent should call the tools itself.
When to use
The task depends on the current API of a library, framework, SDK, or CLI: a signature, a config field, or a setup step. The query goes to Context7, so keep private code out of it.
Install
The CLI needs Node.js 22.13 or newer. The MCP package needs Node.js 20.18.1 or newer.
node -v
npx -y ctx7@latest --version
npx -y @upstash/context7-mcp@latest --versionChecked on 2026-10-12: ctx7 0.6.0 and @upstash/context7-mcp 4.3.0. @latest moves.
Stdio config for an MCP client. Calls without a key returned results. A key from the Context7 dashboard raises the rate limit. If the user already has one, pass it the way that client expects. Leave the key out of this file.

Resolve a name, then query that id. --json prints output an agent can parse.
npx -y ctx7@latest library react "useEffect cleanup" --json
npx -y ctx7@latest docs /react/react "useEffect cleanup function" --jsonctx7 docs takes --language (for example Python) so examples in that language rank first.
MCP tools, with the fields the 4.3.0 package publishes:
resolve-library-idwithlibraryNameandquery.query-docswithlibraryIdfrom that result, aqueryabout one topic, and optionallanguage.
Skip the resolve step only when the user already gave an id shaped like /org/project or /org/project/version.
Gotchas
- Several libraries can share a name. Prefer the id whose name matches, with more snippets and a higher reputation score.
- Use the library's usual punctuation in
libraryName, such asNext.js. - An old id can redirect.
/facebook/reactanswered with a redirect to/react/react. Query the new id. - One topic per query. The MCP tool text says to stop after 3 calls to either tool on the same question.
- A failed upstream call sets the tool error flag on
query-docs. An empty "no documentation" result is a normal answer. - The query is sent to Context7. Leave out keys, passwords, and private code.
ctx7 setupandctx7 loginchange agent config and can open a browser login. Run them only when the user asked to install Context7.

How matches are found. Word for word: the exact same text. Edited: shares passages with this file (“99% same” means 99% of its five-word phrases also appear here; 10% or more counts). Their own version: similar meaning, or, weakest, the same name. We can’t tell which project had it first. Projects are counted among the 200 most-starred candidates, and mentions are links to the repository we found, up to 50 per site, so both counts are a floor.

HK-hubSkillsuperpowers
A complete software development methodology and skill composition system, ported from obra/superpowers. Provides structured, repeatable workflow: brainstorming, design, planning, TDD, subagent-driven dev, code review, finishing branch. Use for coding, building projects, refactoring, bug fixing, or any programming tasks.

LangChainSkillmermaid-diagrams
Embed Mermaid diagrams in generated wiki pages. Use whenever documenting a runtime or request flow, a call sequence, a state machine or lifecycle, a data model or entity relationships, or non-trivial control flow, since these are clearer as a diagram than as prose. Also use when an update run touches a page that already contains a mermaid fence, or a page that contains a text fence a previous run degraded.

SupabaseSkillcopywriting
Write or audit UI copy (buttons, labels, empty states, error messages, tooltips, form text) anywhere in the monorepo. Load it before shipping or reviewing any user-facing text — including when copy is incidental to the task, like a new feature that adds buttons, toasts, dialogs, or validation messages.

Your trail
Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.
Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.
Now do this for your own.
Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
