# Lage Monorepo Overview for LLMs and Newcomers

This repository contains the source code for `lage`, a task runner optimized for JavaScript/TypeScript monorepos.

## Core Concepts

* **Monorepo:** The entire project, including multiple packages, is managed within this single repository.
* **Lage:** The primary tool developed here. It's designed to efficiently run tasks (like building, testing, linting) across the packages in the monorepo, understanding the dependencies between them. Key configuration files are `lage.config.js` and `beachball.config.js` (likely for release management).
* **Packages:** The `packages/` directory contains individual, publishable libraries or applications that make up the `lage` tool and its ecosystem.

## Key Directories

* `packages/`: Contains the individual packages.
    * `lage`: The core `lage` CLI tool package.
    * `cache`: Handles caching of task outputs.
    *   `cli`: Command-line interface logic.
    * `config`: Configuration loading and validation.
    * `hasher`: Content hashing for cache invalidation.
    *   `logger`: Logging utilities.
    *   `scheduler`: Task scheduling logic.
    * `target-graph`: Building the dependency graph of tasks.
    * `worker-threads-pool`: Managing worker threads for parallel execution.
    * *(Other packages support various features like reporters, runners, etc.)*
* `docs/`: Contains the documentation website source code (likely built with Docusaurus).
* `scripts/`: Utility scripts for development and maintenance.
*   `benchmark/`: Performance benchmarking tests.
*   `e2e-tests/`: End-to-end tests for the `lage` CLI.

## Getting Started

1. **Installation:** The project uses Yarn Berry (v4.9.1 specified in `.yarnrc.yml`). Run `yarn install` in the root directory to install dependencies.
2. **Building:** Likely involves running `yarn lage build` or similar commands defined in the root `package.json` or `lage.config.js`.
3. **Testing:** Run tests using `yarn lage test` or similar.
4. **Documentation:** The primary documentation is in the `docs/` directory. Refer to `docs/README.md` or the built website for detailed information.

## Contribution

See `CONTRIBUTING.mdx` in the `docs/docs` directory for guidelines on contributing to the project.
