Read when naming anything user-facing - GUI text, docs, public Python API names, arguments, docstrings, or error messages. Gives the approved LightlyStudio term for each concept and the wording to avoid, currently covering annotations, annotation classes, annotation sources, labeling, and ingestion.

We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent

3 rules. 0 are common, 1 is distinctive, and 2 are very specific to this project.

  • 0

    Common

Most of the 14 edited versions we read keep these.

  • 1

    Distinctive

This author's own choices. Worth a look.

  • 2

    Very specific

Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

  • Common
  • Distinctive
  • Very specific
  1. Distinctive:

Use the Term for all user-facing parts: the GUI, the docs, and the public Python API (names, arguments, docstrings, and error messages).

    line 10
  2. Very specific:

Add new topics as their own ## section below.

    line 14
  3. Very specific:

Do not use "import" for data.

    line 34

“Common” is measured: kept by at least 6 in 10 of the 14 edited versions of this file we could read. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Keep what fits and drop the rest. Your version, ready for your agents.

Glossary and Naming

Terminology for LightlyStudio.

Use the Term for all user-facing parts: the GUI, the docs, and the public Python API (names, arguments, docstrings, and error messages). Internal implementation names (database tables and columns, resolvers, REST JSON fields, and the generated frontend client) are exempt.

Add new topics as their own ## section below.

Annotations

ConceptTermPython identifierAvoid
A classification, object-detection box, or segmentation mask attached to a sampleannotation-label, annotation label

Creating annotationslabeling-the noun 'label'

Data ingestion

ConceptTermAvoid
Images added without any annotationsraw imagesimage folder, unlabeled images
Videos added without any annotationsraw videosvideo folder
Adding samples to a dataset from any source, for example with add_images_from_path or add_samples_from_cocoingestion (verb: ingest)import
Adding annotations to samples that are already in the dataset, for example with add_annotations_from_yoloadd annotationsimport

Do not use "import" for data. It reads like the Python import in nearby code blocks.

Your trail

Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.

Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.

Now do this for your own.

Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
