# 3D New Era AI

> An open-source architecture and interior design editor with a Model Context
> Protocol (MCP) server built in. An AI agent draws walls, doors and windows,
> furnishes rooms, builds joinery, checks lighting and ergonomics against
> standards, and renders photos and videos, in centimeters, with undo. Free and
> open source, for Windows, macOS, Linux and the browser, with an optional hosted
> connector for Claude and ChatGPT.

There are three ways to use it:

- **Desktop app** (Rust, no account, nothing leaves the machine). Opening it
  starts an MCP server on `http://127.0.0.1:7878/mcp`, bound to loopback, so any
  MCP client (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, VS Code,
  Windsurf, Cline, Cherry Studio) edits the same project the person has on
  screen. Every call is a document command: it shows up in the window
  immediately and is undone with Ctrl+Z.
- **Browser editor** at https://3dneweraai.com/app/: the same editor as
  WebAssembly. Switching on its MCP gives the tab an address an AI client can
  reach through a relay that stores nothing.
- **Hosted connector** at `https://mcp.3dneweraai.com/mcp` (OAuth, email sign-in):
  Claude, ChatGPT and other clients design from the chat, with projects kept in
  the person's account. Free within a quota; a paid plan raises it. Setup:
  https://3dneweraai.com/connector/

The interface speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.

## What an agent can do over MCP

- Draw and modify walls, rooms, doors, windows, dimensions, texts and polylines,
  in centimeters, on any storey of the project.
- Place furniture from a 128-piece catalog with real sizes, and import 3D models
  (glTF, OBJ, Sweet Home 3D libraries).
- Build joinery that a workshop can make: cabinets, slatted panels, wardrobes and
  countertops with sink and cooktop cutouts, with cut lists in CSV and DXF.
- Lay out electrical, telecom and plumbing projects: points, circuits, a load
  schedule checked against NBR 5410, runs routed along walls and slabs with their
  bill of materials.
- Check lighting by photometry against NBR ISO/CIE 8995-1, and ergonomics and
  accessibility against NBR 9050 and NBR 15575 — each finding with the fix ready.
- Render: floor plans as PDF, SVG and PNG, elevations, sections, aerial views,
  path-traced photos and walkthrough videos, all on the CPU when there is no GPU.
- Read the project back: dimensions, areas, quantities, bills of materials.

## Install

- Windows: `irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/leandrodaf/3d-new-era-ai/main/scripts/install-windows.ps1 | iex`
- macOS: `curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/leandrodaf/3d-new-era-ai/main/scripts/install-macos.sh | bash`, or `brew install --cask leandrodaf/tap/3d-new-era-ai`
- Linux: download `newera-linux-x64.tar.gz` from the releases page and run `./newera/newera`

The Windows and macOS installers register the MCP server with Claude Code and
Codex when they are installed. For other clients:
`claude mcp add --transport http newera http://127.0.0.1:7878/mcp`
