# ExtendScript
Generated Premiere/AE scripts must be ECMAScript 3.
```javascript
// BAD
const name = item.name;
items.forEach((x) => doWork(x));
// GOOD
var name = item.name;
for (var i = 0; i < items.length; i++) {
doWork(items[i]);
}
```
Forbidden in generated host code: `let`, `const`, arrows, template literals, destructuring, spread, default parameters, `forEach`/`map`/`filter`.
Escape every user-controlled string with `escapeForExtendScript` before embedding. Never interpolate raw paths, names, expressions, or prompts.
Use `buildToolScript` / `buildScript` and existing helpers (`__result`, `__error`, `__findProjectItem`, `__findSequence`). Prefer documented Premiere APIs; label QE DOM (`app.enableQE()`) as experimental.
