# CWA - chatgpt-web-adapter

> CWA is a local product-runtime bridge for authenticated consumer AI web products. It lets local applications and agents use evidence-backed hosted product capabilities while keeping observation, write authority, retry authority, and finality separate.

## Current proven product surfaces

- ChatGPT: production/default conversational runtime; text, continuation, proven rich input and structured product observations; canonical readback where required.
- DeepSeek Web: experimental module-only text new-chat and continuation; page-DOM stable noncanonical completion.
- Gemini Web: experimental module-only text new-chat and continuation; page-DOM stable noncanonical completion.
- Google Translate Web: experimental module-only text translation; PAGE_DOM_STABLE_TRANSLATION; no conversation identity.

- Browser-owned execution is the reference/default strategy for ordinary consumer web products.
- MCP adapter: planned direction, not currently shipped.

## Important invariants

- Product observation is not product approval.
- Capability availability is not caller authorization.
- Incremental output is not canonical finality.
- Ambiguous product writes are not automatically retried.
- CWA is not an official API client for OpenAI, Google, or DeepSeek.
- Product-specific browser mechanics stay below public runtime contracts.
