Multi-LLM development harness: brief → requirements → spec → plan → build → review → release, with real verification gates. Local-first (llama.cpp, vLLM, any OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic endpoint), self-hosted, no telemetry. Core rule: no model ever decides a verdict — a verdict is a command's exit code, accepts re-prove themselves from a clean checkout, and everything is bounded and recorded. Key facts: three binaries (engine daemon on loopback, CLI client, desktop
client); five run modes (solo, pair, tournament, split, council); seats held
by "ducklings" ranked on measured evidence from your own runs; skills
(SKILL.md directories, documentation-first); reference documents with
automatic digestion when the corpus exceeds a seat's context window; an MCP
server so another agent can operate the entire loop with recorded,
attributed decisions.

## Docs

- [README](README.md): what it is, why, install, a full cycle
- [AGENTS.md](AGENTS.md): how agents work in this repo — including natively, through the product
- [CONTRIBUTING](CONTRIBUTING.md): build, the tests that guard the architecture, where to start
- [Normative spec](docs/spec/): 00-VISION through 08-DESKTOP-UI — what the system must be
- [As-built docs](.ducklab/docs/): requirements, spec, plan — maintained by the loop itself
- [Decisions](docs/decisions/): where code and spec deliberately differ, and why
- [OpenAPI](docs/openapi.json): the engine's full HTTP contract, generated from the route table
- [Status](docs/status.md): every acceptance criterion, honestly graded
