# hwatu > Headless verification browser for AI coding agents: daemon-based WebKitGTK, real rendering, ~13ms median window spawn, ~35ms one-call verify pass (`hwatu check`) hwatu is AI-first: the primary user is a coding agent verifying web UIs in its inner loop, headlessly, without stealing focus. Jcode drives it natively as its `browser` backend; other integrations are a one-line JSON protocol over a Unix socket, a CLI mirroring it, and `hwatu mcp`, a Model Context Protocol server over stdio for Claude Code, Cursor, and other MCP clients. Agent-facing tools: `check` (open+load+eval+screenshot+diff+close in one call), `verify` (repo-level contract with preflight, dev server, viewport sweep, evidence report), pixel `diff` with match percent and significant regions, `snapshot`/`click`/`type`/`expect`/`console`/`net` automation, `motion`/`seek`/`clock` for animations as numbers, file upload, full-page screenshots, and safe CAPTCHA/anti-bot challenge hand-off via `hwatu challenge --wait` for manual user resolution. hwatu detects and waits for challenges; it does not provide automatic CAPTCHA bypass, solver API integration, token injection, or fingerprint stealth. The human side serves the hand-off: `hwatu focus <id>` materializes an agent's live headless session as a normal window in the user's tiling WM, so a person can solve a challenge or inspect a page, then the agent resumes the same session. The human side is also a credible primary browser for tiling WMs (Hyprland, sway, niri), which makes the hand-off land in a window that behaves like every other window, while intentionally excluding tabs, sync, an extension platform, and a password store of its own. ## Links - [Repository](https://github.com/hongnoul/hwatu): source code, issues, releases - [Agents guide](https://github.com/hongnoul/hwatu/blob/main/docs/agents.md): automation protocol for coding agents (the primary doc) - [Benchmarks](https://github.com/hongnoul/hwatu/blob/main/docs/benchmarks.md): measured spawn latency, verification-loop cost, memory - [Roadmap](https://github.com/hongnoul/hwatu/blob/main/docs/roadmap.md): AI-first plan of record, non-goals - [README](https://github.com/hongnoul/hwatu/blob/main/README.md): install and usage
