Rebuild Work Tracebook, verify changes in the test VM, then restart the local app
We split this restart-app-after-change.mdc into the rules it gives an agent
2 rules. About 0 are common, 1 is distinctive, and 1 is very specific to this project.

This author's own choices. Worth a look.

≈ “Common” is an estimate: at least 1 in 5 of the 6,350 Cursor rule files we read have a rule of the same kind, not the same words. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

# Rebuild and restart after a source change
After changing anything under `Sources/`, rebuild the app bundle. Verify its UI
in the test VM so testing leaves the user's Mac available.
```bash
zsh Scripts/build-app.zsh debug
testvm note 'Checking the Work Tracebook change'
testvm open ".build/Work Tracebook.app"
testvm ui "Work Tracebook"
testvm shot "Work Tracebook"
```
After the VM check passes, gracefully quit the local copy and open the new build.
Launch it without test data environment variables.
```bash
osascript -e 'quit app "Work Tracebook"'
while pgrep -x 'Work Tracebook' >/dev/null; do sleep 0.5; done
env -u FACTORYLOG_EVENTS_FILE -u FACTORYLOG_STORE open ".build/Work Tracebook.app"
```
The shipped executable is `Contents/MacOS/Work Tracebook`. The SwiftPM product
remains `FactoryLogApp`; launch the `.app` bundle, which has the Info.plist and
code signature.
# Demo screenshots
Debug builds listen for `dev.factorylog.debug.snapshot`. Send a distributed
notification inside the VM with an object of the form `screen|output-path`.
Screens are `today`, `yesterday`, `week` and `insights`, optionally followed by
`@<project path>` to open a project panel. An empty screen keeps the current view.
```bash
testvm run 'swift -e '\''import Foundation; DistributedNotificationCenter.default().postNotificationName(.init("dev.factorylog.debug.snapshot"), object: "week|/tmp/week.png", userInfo: nil, deliverImmediately: true)'\'''
testvm pull /tmp/week.png /tmp/work-tracebook-week.png
```
Launch with `-DebugActiveWindow YES` for publishable captures, and use a generated
demo log from `Scripts/make-demo-log.py`. The snapshot hook exists only in debug
builds. Keep the bundle ID `dev.factorylog.app` and its defaults domain, which
holds the user's preferences.

How matches are found. Word for word: the exact same text. Edited: shares passages with this file (“99% same” means 99% of its five-word phrases also appear here; 10% or more counts). Their own version: similar meaning, or, weakest, the same name. We can’t tell which project had it first. Projects are counted among the 200 most-starred candidates, and mentions are links to the repository we found, up to 50 per site, so both counts are a floor.
Where files are headingNew Cursor rule files have more rules about planning and tracking tasks, and fewer about code style.
Of the Cursor rule files we read, the 3,978 first seen in the last six months, against the older ones: the kind of rule that gained most share, and the kind that lost most. About files like this in general, not this one, and an estimate, since a kind is a pattern in the words.

Your trail
Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.
Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.
Now do this for your own.
Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
