This skill should be used when the user asks to read, create, or edit Google Sheets spreadsheets, or manage cell data through the Google Sheets API.
We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent
6 rules. 0 are common, 2 are distinctive, and 4 are very specific to this project.
0
Common
Most of the 16 edited versions we read keep these.
2
Distinctive
This author's own choices. Worth a look.
4
Very specific
Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

- Very specific
- Distinctive: line 9
Read, create, and edit Google Sheets using the Sheets API v4 with a selected Google account.
- Very specific: line 11
IMPORTANT: User approval required for all writes: Before any create, update, append, or batch update action, show the planned content first …
- Very specific: line 29
If the refresh token is invalid or revoked, follow Add or Re-Authorize an Account in the google-oauth skill: skills/google-oauth/SKILL.md.
- Distinctive: line 37
After a successful create, return the editor URL:
- Very specific: line 77
Use spreadsheets.batchUpdate for structural changes (add/delete sheets, formatting, merge cells, resize, conditional formatting, etc.):
- Very specific: line 96
After approval, create, write, append, or batch update via Sheets API.
“Common” is measured: kept by at least 6 in 10 of the 16 edited versions of this file we could read. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.
Files
Google Sheets
Read, create, and edit Google Sheets using the Sheets API v4 with a selected Google account.
IMPORTANT: User approval required for all writes. Before any create, update, append, or batch update action, show the planned content first and wait for explicit take off approval. Do not mutate anything before that approval.
Configuration
The shared Google credential configuration is defined once in the google-oauth skill: skills/google-oauth/SKILL.md.
API Reference
Send every Google API request through charliebot google request.
The command mints the selected account's access token inside its own process, so the token never appears in a command, in the output or in a run record.
A JSON body goes in --json, which sets Content-Type: application/json; --data-file <path> reads the body from a file instead.
The command prints the response body on stdout and exits 0 for an HTTP 2xx answer; another status exits 1.
Choose the Account
Choose the account using the Accounts section in the google-oauth skill.
Pass --account <name> on every request, and omit --account for the default account.
If the refresh token is invalid or revoked, follow Add or Re-Authorize an Account in the google-oauth skill: skills/google-oauth/SKILL.md.
Create a Spreadsheet
charliebot google request POST https://sheets.googleapis.com/v4/spreadsheets --json '{"properties":{"title":"Spreadsheet Title"}}'After a successful create, return the editor URL:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/{spreadsheetId}/edit
Read Spreadsheet Metadata
charliebot google request GET "https://sheets.googleapis.com/v4/spreadsheets/SPREADSHEET_ID"Returns spreadsheet properties, sheet names, grid dimensions, and other metadata. To list only sheet titles, inspect sheets[].properties.title in the response.
Read Values
charliebot google request GET "https://sheets.googleapis.com/v4/spreadsheets/SPREADSHEET_ID/values/RANGE"RANGE uses A1 notation, e.g. Sheet1!A1:D10 or Sheet1!A:A. The response contains a values array of rows.
Write Values
charliebot google request PUT "https://sheets.googleapis.com/v4/spreadsheets/SPREADSHEET_ID/values/RANGE?valueInputOption=USER_ENTERED" \
--json '{"range":"RANGE","majorDimension":"ROWS","values":[["A1 value","B1 value"],["A2 value","B2 value"]]}'valueInputOption=USER_ENTERED parses values as if typed into the UI (numbers, dates, formulas are interpreted). Use RAW to store literal strings.
Append Values
charliebot google request POST "https://sheets.googleapis.com/v4/spreadsheets/SPREADSHEET_ID/values/RANGE:append?valueInputOption=USER_ENTERED" \
--json '{"range":"RANGE","majorDimension":"ROWS","values":[["A value","B value"]]}'Appends rows after the last row with data in the specified range. The RANGE determines which table to append to (e.g. Sheet1!A:B).
Batch Update
Use spreadsheets.batchUpdate for structural changes (add/delete sheets, formatting, merge cells, resize, conditional formatting, etc.):
charliebot google request POST "https://sheets.googleapis.com/v4/spreadsheets/SPREADSHEET_ID:batchUpdate" \
--json '{"requests":[{"addSheet":{"properties":{"title":"New Sheet"}}}]}'Common request types: addSheet, deleteSheet, updateSheetProperties, mergeCells, repeatCell (for formatting), autoResizeDimensions, addConditionalFormatRule.
Bootstrap / Re-Authorization
Choose an account in the Accounts section and follow Add or Re-Authorize an Account in the google-oauth skill: skills/google-oauth/SKILL.md.
Workflow
- Choose the account that matches the request using the Accounts section in the google-oauth skill.
- Send each request with
charliebot google request <METHOD> <URL> [--json <body>] --account <name>. Omit--accountfor the default account. - For reads, call
spreadsheets.getfor metadata orspreadsheets.values.getfor cell data. - For writes, show the exact planned content first and wait for explicit
take offapproval. - After approval, create, write, append, or batch update via Sheets API. After a successful create, return
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/{spreadsheetId}/edit.

How matches are found. Word for word: the exact same text. Edited: shares passages with this file (“99% same” means 99% of its five-word phrases also appear here; 10% or more counts). Their own version: similar meaning, or, weakest, the same name. We can’t tell which project had it first. Projects are counted among the 200 most-starred candidates, and mentions are links to the repository we found, up to 50 per site, so both counts are a floor.

Other files people use alongside this one.
Files found in the same public projects as a version of this one, more often than they turn up anywhere else. Each project counts once, large collections count for less, and this file's own repository is left out.

Your trail
Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.
Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.
Now do this for your own.
Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
