Desktop GUI (Tauri 2) for promoting Claude Code permission rules between scopes. Two halves: Rust backend (src-tauri/src/) + TypeScript frontend (src/). Managed (enterprise) settings sit above all of these but are out of scope for this project. In the UI the four scopes are laid out broadest-on-the-left: User / User-Local / Project / Local.

# ClaudeScope — Copilot Instructions Desktop GUI (Tauri 2) for promoting Claude Code permission rules between scopes. ## Commands ```bash # Dev (full app) — from repo root. Tauri CLI is an npm dev dep; do NOT use `cargo tauri`. npm run tauri dev # Frontend only npm run dev # Vite dev server (no Tauri shell) npm run lint # Biome check npm run format # Biome format --write # Rust (from src-tauri/) cargo test # all tests cargo test <test_name> # single test, e.g. `cargo test finds_project_root` cargo clippy -- -D warnings # Production build (from repo root) npm run tauri build ``` ## Architecture **Two halves: Rust backend (`src-tauri/src/`) + TypeScript frontend (`src/`).** ### Rust modules | File | Responsibility | |------|---------------| | `scope.rs` | Scope discovery — walks the filesystem upward for `.claude/`, resolves the four scope file paths | | `model.rs` | `SettingsDoc` — wraps `serde_json::Value` with preserved key order; `add_rule` / `remove_rule` / `render` | | `io_atomic.rs` | Atomic writes: serialize → revalidate JSON → backup → tempfile → rename; `BackupTracker` for once-per-session `.bak` files | | `commands.rs` | Three Tauri commands: `load_scopes`, `diff_move`, `apply_move`; process-global `BackupTracker` via `OnceLock` | | `watcher.rs` | `notify-debouncer-mini` watcher; emits `scopes-changed` event; self-write echo suppression via grace window | | `lib.rs` | Tauri builder wiring | ### Frontend files | File | Responsibility | |------|---------------| | `types.ts` | Shared TypeScript types (`Scope`, `PermissionKind`, `LoadedScopes`, `MoveRequest`, etc.) and `SEARCH_INPUT_ID` constant | | `main.ts` | State machine: `state` object + `moveInFlight` bool + `externalReloadPending` flag; calls `invoke` and drives renders | | `ui.ts` | Full DOM re-render via `renderApp` (clears `innerHTML` each call); `confirmMove` modal | | `lint.ts` | Shape-only lint for permission rule strings; never blocks — warn-only badges | ## Key Conventions ### Claude Code scopes (precedence order, highest first) 1. **Local** — `./.claude/settings.local.json` (project-local, gitignored) 2. **Project** — `./.claude/settings.json` (committed) 3. **User-Local** — `~/.claude/settings.local.json` (machine-local override; Claude Code creates and uses it when `~` is itself inside a git repo) 4. **User** — `~/.claude/settings.json` (machine-global) Managed (enterprise) settings sit above all of these but are out of scope for this project. In the UI the four scopes are laid out broadest-on-the-left: User / User-Local / Project / Local. ### Write path invariants - `serde_json` must use the `preserve_order` feature so key order round-trips intact. - Every write goes through `io_atomic::save`: serialize → re-parse to validate → backup → tempfile → rename. - `BackupTracker` (process-global `OnceLock`) ensures only one `.bak` is created per file per session. - `apply_move` calls `watch.note_self_write()` *after* each successful save so the watcher's self-write grace window suppresses the echo. ### Frontend rendering - `renderApp` does a full DOM wipe + rebuild on every state change. It snapshots search input focus/caret before wiping and restores it after, so the search box stays usable while typing. - `moveInFlight` lives **outside** `state` intentionally — flipping it must not trigger a re-render (doing so would destroy the trigger button that `confirmMove` needs for focus restoration). - `externalReloadPending` defers `scopes-changed` reloads that arrive during an in-flight move or load. The in-flight operation's `finally` block drains it with one follow-up `load()`. ### Tauri events (Rust → JS) - `scopes-changed` — any watched scope file mutated externally; triggers a reload. - `watcher-error` — watcher install failed (non-fatal); logged to devtools only. ### Biome (TS/JS/CSS/HTML) - 2-space indent, double quotes, semicolons, trailing commas, LF line endings, 100-char line width. - `biome.json` excludes `dist/`, `node_modules/`, `src-tauri/target/`, `src-tauri/gen/`, and `src-tauri/Cargo.lock`. ### Git / CI - Default branch: `dev`. PRs target `dev`. Follow Conventional Commits — version bumps and GitHub Release notes are generated by release-please from commit subjects (see `CONTRIBUTING.md`). No tracked `CHANGELOG.md`. - CI triggers on pushes to `dev` and PRs targeting `dev`. - MSRV: Rust 1.88 (enforced by a dedicated CI `msrv` job). - Releases: `release-please.yml` is `workflow_dispatch`-only; maintainer manually runs it to open a version-bump PR on `dev`. Merging that PR tags `vX.Y.Z`, which fires `release.yml` to build Tauri installers and upload them + `SHA256SUMS.txt` to a draft GitHub Release.
