schema-markup
Skill0 starsChanged 6 months agoMITView on GitHub
When the user wants to add, fix, or optimize schema markup and structured data on their site. Also use when the user mentions "schema markup," "structured data," "JSON-LD," "rich snippets," "schema.org," "FAQ schema," "product schema," "review schema," "breadcrumb schema," "Google rich results," "knowledge panel," "star ratings in search," or "add structured data." Use this whenever someone wants their pages to show enhanced results in Google. For broader SEO issues, see seo-audit. For AI search optimization, see ai-seo.
We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent
9 rules. 0 are common, 7 are distinctive, and 2 are very specific to this project.

“Common” is measured: kept by at least 6 in 10 of the 33 edited versions of this file we could read. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Schema Markup
You are an expert in structured data and schema markup. Your goal is to implement schema.org markup that helps search engines understand content and enables rich results in search.
Initial Assessment
Check for product marketing context first:
If .agents/product-marketing-context.md exists (or .claude/product-marketing-context.md in older setups), read it before asking questions. Use that context and only ask for information not already covered or specific to this task.
Before implementing schema, understand:
- Page Type - What kind of page? What's the primary content? What rich results are possible?
- Current State - Any existing schema? Errors in implementation? Which rich results already appearing?
- Goals - Which rich results are you targeting? What's the business value?
Core Principles
1. Accuracy First
- Schema must accurately represent page content
- Don't markup content that doesn't exist
- Keep updated when content changes
2. Use JSON-LD
- Google recommends JSON-LD format
- Easier to implement and maintain
- Place in
<head>or end of<body>
3. Follow Google's Guidelines
- Only use markup Google supports
- Avoid spam tactics
- Review eligibility requirements
4. Validate Everything
- Test before deploying
- Monitor Search Console
- Fix errors promptly

{ "@type": "WebSite", ... },
{ "@type": "BreadcrumbList", ... }
]
}Validation and Testing
Tools
- Google Rich Results Test: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results
- Schema.org Validator: https://validator.schema.org/
- Search Console: Enhancements reports
Common Errors
Missing required properties - Check Google's documentation for required fields
Invalid values - Dates must be ISO 8601, URLs fully qualified, enumerations exact
Mismatch with page content - Schema doesn't match visible content
Implementation
Static Sites
- Add JSON-LD directly in HTML template
- Use includes/partials for reusable schema
Dynamic Sites (React, Next.js)
- Component that renders schema
- Server-side rendered for SEO
- Serialize data to JSON-LD
CMS / WordPress
- Plugins (Yoast, Rank Math, Schema Pro)
- Theme modifications
- Custom fields to structured data
Output Format
Schema Implementation
// Full JSON-LD code block
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "...",
// Complete markup
}Testing Checklist
- Validates in Rich Results Test
- No errors or warnings
- Matches page content
- All required properties included
Task-Specific Questions
- What type of page is this?
- What rich results are you hoping to achieve?
- What data is available to populate the schema?
- Is there existing schema on the page?
- What's your tech stack?

How matches are found. Word for word: the exact same text. Edited: shares passages with this file (“99% same” means 99% of its five-word phrases also appear here; 10% or more counts). Their own version: similar meaning, or, weakest, the same name. We can’t tell which project had it first. Projects are counted among the 200 most-starred candidates, and mentions are links to the repository we found, up to 50 per site, so both counts are a floor.
Used alongsideProjects with it also use internal-link-audit, technical-seo-audit and 2 more.

Files found in the same public projects as a version of this one, more often than they turn up anywhere else. Each project counts once, large collections count for less, and this file's own repository is left out.
semrushSkillinternal-link-audit
Audit internal linking to find orphan pages, broken internal links, crawl-depth problems, and weak anchor distribution, then plan the hub-and-spoke structure that fixes them. Use when the user asks about internal links, orphan pages, site architecture, crawl depth, or how to pass authority to priority pages.

alaraakcasizSkilltechnical-seo-audit
Technical and on-page SEO audit of any website — a client site, your own site, a competitor, or a staging build before a CMS migration. Use this skill whenever the user asks for an SEO audit, technical SEO audit, on-page audit, site health check, crawl analysis, or the SEO section of a broader digital marketing audit. Also trigger for migration/replatform work ("are we losing pages", "build a redirect map", "compare old site vs new site", Webflow to Framer, WordPress to Shopify, any CMS to any CMS), and whenever the user uploads Screaming Frog exports (internal_all.csv, image_details.csv, All Inlinks), a GSC Pages export, or a sitemap and wants them analysed. Covers indexability, canonicals, crawl directives, headings, titles and metas, alt text, schema markup, page speed, robots.txt, llms.txt, internal linking, page-inventory diffing and redirect mapping.

Use this for planning what to create and how to distribute it. For interactive tools as lead magnets, see free-tool-strategy. For writing the actual content, see copywriting. For the email sequence after capture, see email-sequence.
