Python, single file, MIT. Key facts: - Problem solved: every installed skill costs context tokens on every request and overlapping descriptions cause wrong triggering; the librarian replaces always-loaded skills with one on-demand tool call. - Tools: librarian_find (ranked shortlist for an intent), librarian_brainstorm (diverse sweep + wildcards), librarian_report (agent files worked/failed), librarian_reindex (rescan changed SKILL.md files), librarian_stats (curation digest: hot skills, never-surfaced, low success rate). - Agents have no write access beyond the append-only outcome log; curation decisions stay with the human. - Works with any MCP client over stdio (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Goose, and others). Requires Python 3.12+, the mcp SDK 2.x, and Ollama with nomic-embed-text. - In production since 2026-06-10; usage numbers are published in the repo. ## Docs - [README](README.md): what it is, pipeline, setup, tools, tuning knobs - [skills/using-the-skill-librarian/SKILL.md](skills/using-the-skill-librarian/SKILL.md): the one agent skill to install — teaches agents the ask → use → report loop - [ORIGIN.md](ORIGIN.md): the original conversation the project came from - [USAGE-REPORT.md](USAGE-REPORT.md): real production numbers, three snapshots - [CHANGELOG.md](CHANGELOG.md): changes and the decisions behind them
