Build GitHub Copilot desktop extensions, Cursor extensions or plugins, OpenCode plugins, or publish Mental to a store or marketplace. Load the matching project skill first.
We split this desktop-and-publishing-skills.mdc into the rules it gives an agent
2 rules. About 0 are common, 1 is distinctive, and 1 is very specific to this project.

Many files like this have a rule of this kind.

This author's own choices. Worth a look.

Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

- Distinctive: line 8
Read the matching skill before writing code or running a release step:
- Very specific: line 25
Never tag, release, publish or submit without the user's explicit go-ahead.
≈ “Common” is an estimate: at least 1 in 5 of the 6,350 Cursor rule files we read have a rule of the same kind, not the same words. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

--- description: Build GitHub Copilot desktop extensions, Cursor extensions or plugins, OpenCode plugins, or publish Mental to a store or marketplace. Load the matching project skill first. alwaysApply: false --- # Copilot / Cursor / OpenCode build and publishing skills (repo-local) Read the matching skill before writing code or running a release step: | Task | Skill | | --- | --- | | Copilot desktop extension: `extension.mjs`, canvases, tools (no MCP needed) | `.agents/skills/copilot-desktop-extensions/SKILL.md` | | Cursor UI (VS Code extension on Open VSX), plugin, rules, skills; canvas is not a mod (no MCP needed) | `.agents/skills/cursor-extensions-and-plugins/SKILL.md` | | OpenCode plugin (v1 hooks, v2 server/TUI) | `.agents/skills/opencode-plugins/SKILL.md` | | Release or publish Mental: npm, Claude, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, OpenCode | `.agents/skills/publishing-mental-to-stores/SKILL.md` | **Mod scope.** We only care about desktop apps with a Claude Desktop-style mod mechanism (extends the app's own UI). Today only two qualify: Claude Desktop mods (no MCP) and Copilot desktop canvases (no MCP, `@experimental`). Codex Plugin Extensions need MCP, so they are not a mod. Cursor has no mod equivalent yet (Canvas is agent output; VS Code extensions are a separate editor route); revisit later. OpenCode plugins are server or terminal only, not a desktop mod. Key facts: Copilot has no central store, only marketplace repos. OpenCode has no official publish page. Codex public submission needs a remote MCP server, which Mental lacks. ## Maintaining them - `.agents/skills/` is canonical. `.claude/skills/` is a mirror. After editing, run `node scripts/sync-project-skills.mjs`; tests fail on drift. - Repo-only. Never add `.agents` or `.claude` to `package.json` `files`, and never move them into `skills/`. - Never tag, release, publish or submit without the user's explicit go-ahead. Release rules: `.cursor/rules/release.mdc`. - Re-verify against the primary docs cited in each skill before changing facts.
Where files are headingNew Cursor rule files have more rules about planning and tracking tasks, and fewer about code style.
Of the Cursor rule files we read, the 3,978 first seen in the last six months, against the older ones: the kind of rule that gained most share, and the kind that lost most. About files like this in general, not this one, and an estimate, since a kind is a pattern in the words.

Your trail
Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.
Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.
Now do this for your own.
Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
