# Wayfinder

> Wayfinder is a local-first macOS and Windows desktop app that turns AI collaboration into a reviewable visual history of goals, attempts, branches, evidence, and outcomes.

Wayfinder is designed for AI-assisted research, writing, design, coding, and other project work. Codex and Claude Code are the current public Early Access collectors, not the product boundary.

The complete history stays on the user's computer under `~/.wayfinder`. The current product has no account, telemetry, cloud sync, or cloud analysis. Wayfinder does not invent missing historical file changes.

## Important Limits

- Wayfinder is currently distributed only as a desktop application.
- Plugins, VSIX packages, Skills, MCP bundles, CLIs, Homebrew, and Scoop are not current installation surfaces.
- File changes are created only from successful source tool calls with verifiable edit evidence.
