# No Commits Without Explicit Permission

**Never run `git commit` (or `git push`) unless the user explicitly asks you to.**

This means: do not commit at the end of a task "to wrap up", do not commit "for convenience", and do not commit as part of multi-step tasks unless a commit was part of the ask.

## What to do instead

Make your code changes, then stop. The user will ask to commit when they are ready.

```
// ❌ BAD — committing unprompted after a fix
git add ... && git commit -m "fix: ..."

// ✅ GOOD — leave changes unstaged, let the user decide
(just apply the code changes and stop)
```

## If you already committed by mistake

Soft-reset to put the changes back in the working tree:

```bash
git reset HEAD~1
```

Then inform the user what happened.
