Implement ChatJS tRPC routers, TanStack Query hooks, mutations, and cache invalidation. Use when adding or changing tRPC procedures or their React consumers in apps/chat.

We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent

4 rules. About 0 are common, 0 are distinctive, and 4 are very specific to this project.

  • ≈0

    Common · estimate

    Many files like this have a rule of this kind.

  • ≈0

    Distinctive · estimate

    This author's own choices. Worth a look.

  • 4

    Very specific

    Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

  • Common
  • Distinctive
  • Very specific
  1. Very specific:

    Add feature routers under apps/chat/trpc/routers/*.router.ts and register them in apps/chat/trpc/routers/_app.ts.

  2. Very specific:

    Use protectedProcedure for authenticated operations.

    line 11
  3. Very specific:

    Keep database access in apps/chat/lib/db/queries.ts.

  4. Very specific:

    Use useTRPC() with TanStack Query:

≈ “Common” is an estimate: at least 1 in 5 of the 308,232 skill files we read have a rule of the same kind, not the same words. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Keep what fits and drop the rest. Your version, ready for your agents.

ChatJS tRPC patterns

Backend

  • Add feature routers under apps/chat/trpc/routers/*.router.ts and register them in apps/chat/trpc/routers/_app.ts.
  • Use protectedProcedure for authenticated operations.
  • Validate inputs with Zod and verify ownership before mutations.
  • Keep database access in apps/chat/lib/db/queries.ts.

React queries

Use useTRPC() with TanStack Query:

const trpc = useTRPC();
const query = useQuery({
  ...trpc.feature.list.queryOptions(),
  enabled: Boolean(condition),
});

For mutations, use generated mutation options and invalidate related keys after success:

const trpc = useTRPC();
const queryClient = useQueryClient();

const mutation = useMutation(
  trpc.feature.update.mutationOptions({
    onSuccess: () =>
      queryClient.invalidateQueries({
        queryKey: trpc.feature.list.queryKey(),
      }),
  })
);

Handle loading and error states in the consumer.

Your trail

Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.

Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.

Now do this for your own.

Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
