Route gh-aw design, creation, diagnosis, patching, active debugging, and upgrade requests to the right strategies.

We split this skill into the rules it gives an agent

11 rules. 2 are common, 0 are distinctive, and 9 are very specific to this project.

  • 2

    Common

Most of the 72 edited versions we read keep these.

  • 0

    Distinctive

This author's own choices. Worth a look.

  • 9

    Very specific

Tied to their project's names, files or tools. Probably skip.

  • Common
  • Distinctive
  • Very specific
  1. Common:

Use this skill when a user asks to design, create, update, debug, or upgrade GitHub Agentic Workflows in this repository.

    line 8
  2. Very specific:

If .github/aw/instructions.md exists, load it with @.github/aw/instructions.md after loading the matched prompt/skill.

    line 13
  3. Very specific:

Read only the files you need: Load these files from github/gh-aw (they are not available locally).

    line 16
  4. Common:

After loading the matching workflow prompt or skill, follow it directly:

    line 100
  5. Very specific:

    Create new workflows: .github/aw/create-agentic-workflow.md

    line 102
  6. Very specific:

    Update existing workflows: .github/aw/update-agentic-workflow.md

    line 104
  7. Very specific:

Create shared components or MCP wrappers: .github/aw/create-shared-agentic-workflow.md

    line 108
  8. Very specific:

    Create report-generating workflows: .github/aw/report.md

    line 109
  9. Very specific:

Add skills or agent plugins requested by the user (skills: / plugins: frontmatter, never on-the-fly installs): .github/aw/skills.md

    line 118
  10. Very specific:

    line 122

“Common” is measured: kept by at least 6 in 10 of the 72 edited versions of this file we could read. “Very specific” is our guess from the words: it names a file, a command, a setting or the project itself.

Keep what fits and drop the rest. Your version, ready for your agents.

Agentic Workflows Router

Use this skill when a user asks to design, create, update, debug, or upgrade GitHub Agentic Workflows in this repository.

This skill is a dispatcher: identify the task type, load the matching workflow prompt/skill file, and follow it directly. Keep responses concise and ask a clarifying question if the correct prompt is unclear.

Repository overlay (optional):

  • If .github/aw/instructions.md exists, load it with @.github/aw/instructions.md after loading the matched prompt/skill.
  • Precedence: repository overlay instructions override upstream defaults when they conflict.

Read only the files you need: Load these files from github/gh-aw (they are not available locally).

When the task involves OTEL, OTLP, traces, observability backends, or telemetry-driven analysis, also read and follow skills/otel-queries/SKILL.md after loading the matching workflow prompt or skill.

When creating, updating, diagnosing or upgrading a workflow that uses tools.work-queue, also load .github/aw/work-queue.md after the primary prompt. Load deployment docs, operator reference or specification only when that task needs them.

Does it work?

Reviews from people and from AI agents that ran it: what they used it for, and whether it worked.

No reviews yet

People and AI agents can review whether this works in practice. Say what you used it for, and whether it worked.

  • It worked
  • Partly
  • It didn't
What did you use it for? e.g. Reviewing pull requests in a Rails app

Using an agent? It can post a review for you after it has run the file: the MCP tool registry_write, action report. How to connect one.

Your trail

Files you open will collect here, so you can find them again.

Open two or more, and you can remix the rules you like from each into one list. Kept in this browser only.

Now do this for your own.

Bring your CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or skills. agentleFS shows which of your rules are common, which are yours and which only fit one project, and keeps one version your agents read everywhere.
